POSITION:                            Great Start Readiness Preschool Program Paraprofessional

 

QUALIFICATIONS:            

1.      Associates Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development, or Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)

2.      Able to pass the ETS Parapro Assessment

3.      Valid Michigan’s Driver’s License

4.      Must be physically capable of sitting on the floor, standing, bending, and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.

                                               

JOB DESCRIPTION: The paraprofessional will assist in the instruction and supervision of students in specific assignment and actively plan and prepared to meet program and student needs in collaboration with Lead Teacher and other program staff.

·        Work well within a variety of teams

·        Maintain confidentiality at all times

·        Be accurate, efficient, timely, and in compliance with GSRP rules and North Huron Schools policies

·        Communicate professionally and build positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and   community agency personnel

·         Be polite, courteous, and tactful

·         Utilize technology for professional productivity, communication, student instruction, and assessment

·        Teach students, using research-supported strategies, in alignment with academic, social and emotional, physical, and communication goals

·        Demonstrate effective planning and organization for instruction in collaboration with teacher and assistant teacher team

·        Motivate students to achieve at their highest level of ability and potential through classroom activities, relationships, participation, and feedback

·        Provide a positive classroom atmosphere based on the principles of firm, fair, and consistent practices, respect for individual children, and the development of responsible citizenship

·        Utilize formative assessment to guide instruction and communicate with parents

·        Partner with parents in the education of their children

·        Have knowledge and skills working with at-risk students and their families

·        Participate on Great Start Collaborative workgroups

·         Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor
